Wave

Wave patterns from oceanic movement inspire rhythmic and sonic density in this work for piano. In place of cadences are still points where wave motion rests, creating a lull. The first section unveils pure wave action and its stochastic unfurling.
In the spirit of the piano sonata, a development section next explores life around the sea wave. Force majeure, in which something drastic occurs in the natural world, leads the way to a second development section, amassing a saturation of 16 piano voices. An avian cadenza celebrates the sounds of pelagic bird species. And a finale, Distancia, diminishes wave action, both in depth and intensity, in search of a wild intimacy. Total length – 51:31.
